To say that I loved this book would be an understatement. I L-O-V-E-D it. I haven't read a book of this nature in a while and now it's got me craving more!
UNRAVEL is a combination of several genres--psychological thriller, new adult romance, women's fiction. It takes us through this journey with both Lana and Naomi and the men in their lives, Lana's father (the antagonist), Max and Lachlan. The book vacillates back and forth between the present, where Naomi is in a mental institution and you just can't figure out why because for all intents and purposes, besides seeing Lana's father when he's not really there, she seems fairly normal. There's this shroud of mystery surrounding the whole thing and the author slowly unravels the story as she gives it to us in flashbacks as Naomi tells her story, which intertwines with Lana's, as she relates it back to her psychiatrist.
I LOVED both Max and Lachlan--the two handsome men in Naomi and Lana's lives. There was kind of a love triangle thing going on. Sort of, anyway. That's the best way I can describe what was happening without giving anything away. I loved the twist at the end of the book, and after I finished reading, I replayed it in my head over and over. I was seriously tempted to go back and re-read the entire thing, which never happens!
There's so so so much I want to say about this book! But I can't. It's just too delicious to give any spoilers away. It's somewhat reminiscent of a book I read years ago, THE LACE READER by Brunonia Barry, except much better because there aren't the dry parts and that book was a bit slow, where as,I couldn't put UNRAVEL down. It was fast-paced and awesome.
You are just going to have to read it yourself!! Seriously, go buy it right now. This is by far the most memorable book I've read this year and one of the best!
